Suzuki SX4, 2010

Suzuki SX4, 2010

Suzuki SX4 is a distinctive five-door hatchback that blends the characteristics of sporty compacts exemplified by the Swift, with those of lightweight SUVs such as the Grand Vitara, to create an exciting small car alternative.

The resulting 'sport X-over' combines responsive driving dynamics, 4x4 capability, high levels of practicality and styling that suggests a freestyle approach to life.

The UK line-up offers two engine options - one diesel and one petrol. The revised 120PS 1.6 litre VVT petrol engine is available in either SZ3 or SZ4 2WD (front-wheel drive) format or as a 4x4 SZ5 model with selectable/automatic four-wheel drive. The 1.6-litre DDiS will be available in SZ4 trim from April 2010, together with the SZ5 4X4 petrol.
.
Expressive, confident exterior
The Suzuki SX4 is styled to look good in any setting. Fusing the dynamism of SUVs with the elegance of passenger cars gives poise and presence beyond the model's compact size. The 2010 model features a redesigned front bumper and grill together with new design 16-inch alloy wheels for SZ4 and SZ5 models. A low, rising waistline and large, triangular glazing forward of the front doors give the vehicle a strong, sporty wedge shape expressing dynamic performance, while the pronounced wheelarches and wide front and rear track broadcast stability and good traction. The design suggests a potential that is not found in conventional hatchbacks and that is pure Suzuki in nature: exciting, multi-dimensional and visually appealing.

Bold and refined interior
The "X-over" design continues inside the vehicle, with curving wraparound forms and trim materials and fabrics that have high visual and tactile quality. Circular motifs and a flowing centre panel - also used to critical acclaim in other Suzuki models - express the car's dynamic performance and add to its active lifestyle appeal.

The two-tone interior is predominantly black, highlighted with metallic-coloured accents and wedge-shaped motifs, for a look that is both bold and refined. The instrument panel's ergonomic design ensures the key meters and controls are intuitive and simple to use. A new style, LED back lit three-dial cluster provides important information at a glance and neatly echoes the metallic, circular motifs of the side air outlets and other controls. Important driver information on average and instantaneous fuel consumption as well as driving fuel range and outside temperature have now been relocated from the top centre of the dashboard to directly ahead of the driver in the instrument cluster.

The lower centre dashboard panel has also been revised for the 2010 model and incorporates a new display; housing the audio, air conditioning and other controls. On SZ4 and SZ5 models the large dials of the fully automatic air conditioning have ring lights, which make them easier to see and use, while adding to the overall refined quality. Steering wheel audio controls are now illuminated for added convenience.

Balance of form and function
The Suzuki SX4 comfortably accommodates up to five people and their luggage needs, while retaining a sleek and stylish look. The 4WD models have exterior length-width-height dimensions of 4,150mm x 1,755mm x 1,620mm (2WD models:1,605mm) These efficient proportions and a minimum turning circle of 10.6 metres make Suzuki SX4 easy to navigate around narrow urban streets and easier to park in spaces that would be out-of-bounds to large SUVs.

The spacious interior offers plenty of leg and shoulder room, even for rear seat passengers. Space is not the only factor in ensuring plenty of on-board comfort: the shape and position of the seats are designed to support a natural posture, a key factor in comfortable long-distance travel. Additionally, ideal seat heights, large door openings, and high ground clearance make access easy for all on board. The rear seats are set slightly higher, which means even those in the back get a good all-round view.

The rear seats divide 60:40, which means long items can be carried while still seating one or two rear passengers. They can also be tumbled forward to create an almost fully flat load floor, increasing boot capacity from 270 to 625 litres (VDA measurement).

Specification
Suzuki SX4 is well equipped as standard with the SZ3 model offering six airbags; remote central locking with deadlocks, air conditioning, MP3 / WMA compatible CD tuner with eight speakers, four electric windows, driver information display and illuminated steering wheel mounted audio controls.

The SZ4 model adds fog lamps; 16-inch alloy wheels, side body protection and heated door mirrors. Petrol engine SZ4 models have an even higher specification with keyless entry and start; dashboard centre speaker and automatic air conditioning.

On sale in April, the top of the range SZ5 model adds i-AWD (intelligent All Wheel Drive), MP3 / WMA compatible six CD changer and rear privacy glass.

Pure driving exhilaration

The Suzuki SX4 was engineered from the outset to offer all-wheel drive capability, yet still deliver sharp, dynamic performance. The inherent qualities of sporty hatchbacks are evident in the car's responsiveness and comfortable long-distance travel, while Suzuki's extensive experience in 4WD technology delivers all-wheel traction that is more than adequate for everyday situations.

The revised 1.6-litre petrol engine features drive by wire throttle control, a new variable valve timing and variable intake system for enhanced driveability and response. It powers the 2WD models with manual transmission from nought to 62 mph in 10.7 seconds - 11.5 seconds for the 4x4 model. In combined cycle driving, the 2WD manual models return 45.6mpg, a 10 per cent improvement over the previous engine, while the 4x4 is only slightly behind, returning 43.5mpg, a very respectable figure for a petrol-powered 4x4.

Power and torque

The 1.6-litre petrol engine has been improved to comply with Euro 5 emissions with a new cylinder head and block which offer improved cooling performance and improved 'knock' or detonation control limits; the higher power output (120PS vs 107PS) over the previous engine has been achieved by extending the intake and exhaust valve lift with variable valve timing and utilising a variable inlet manifold.

The variable intake system is similar to that used in the Grand Vitara 2.4-litre engine in which rotary valves in the intake manifold change the length of the intake ports according to engine speed. The result is improved intake efficiency throughout the rev range.

The variable intake system adjusts intake port length in three stages, Low, Mid and High engine speeds; thus gaining the maximum potential from the intake manifold. Optimising intake efficiency in this way means the engine delivers higher torque at the right time and subsequently delivers lower emissions across the engine speed range.

The engine also utilises a thin walled exhaust catalyst to also help achieve higher fuel efficiency and lower emissions; this is particularly relevant after start up from cold as the exhaust catalyst is able to reach it's correct operating temperature in less time.

The signature feature of the Suzuki SX4 4x4 is it's i-AWD switchable three-mode all-wheel drive system. An Electric Control Coupling Device allows the driver to select 4WD-Auto, 4WD-Lock, and 2WD modes to suit driving conditions, giving excellent traction on low grip surfaces.

In 4WD-Auto mode in normal driving conditions there is no torque transfer to the rear wheels, so the Suzuki SX4 effectively operates as a front-wheel drive vehicle. As soon as any pronounced front wheel slip is detected, torque is automatically apportioned to the rear wheels to give all-wheel traction and improve vehicle stability.

4WD-Lock mode maintains full traction up to around 40mph, before automatically switching to 4WD-Auto mode for smooth cruising. Selecting 2WD (drive through the front wheels) optimises fuel economy.

Suzuki Kizashi, 2010

Suzuki Kizashi, 2010

Suzuki, known primarily as a maker of small vehicles and high-performance motorcycles, marks the global debut of the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi (pronounced "Kee-Zah-Shee"), the company's first entry into the all-wheel-drive sport sedan segment. Benchmarked against some of the leading cars in the world, the all-new 2010 Suzuki Kizashi becomes an instant car-of-the-year contender in its own right. With the launch of the Suzuki Kizashi, Suzuki delivers a unique blend of dynamic performance attributes with premium design aesthetics and craftsmanship yet to be experienced in this category. Scheduled to arrive in North American showrooms this winter, the Suzuki Kizashi will serve as the company's flagship vehicle, further expanding and strengthening its current product line of high-quality small cars, trucks and SUVs.

The Suzuki Kizashi sport sedan, which originates from the Suzuki Kizashi Concept series introduced over the last two years, follows a similar design theme and appreciation for performance previously illustrated by the three eye-catching and immaculately designed concept vehicles. The production Kizashi redefines the traditional performance sedan and moves the Suzuki brand upscale. Furthermore, its active and energetic identity, a core component of the Suzuki brand DNA, is tempered by the vehicle's overall mission to provide a strong, refined urban performance.

Powertrain
Built at Suzuki's brand-new manufacturing facility in Sagara, Japan, the 2010 Kizashi is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine offering a more potent standard engine than many competitive best-sellers. The engine employs both an aluminum block and cylinder heads, providing a lightweight installation; aluminum pistons with low tensile force rings deliver improved power and efficiency. Dropped-forged connecting rods, rotating on a forged steel crankshaft, contribute to the inline four's durability, and a balancer shaft delivers improved engine balance and reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).

The responsive inline four is connected to a six-speed manual transmission, for heightened performance in the low gears, along with relaxed — and economical — cruising capability in the higher gears. Customers may opt for an available Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) that delivers both the driving experience and fuel efficiency today's consumers demand, while not compromising the character preferred by driving enthusiasts. That character is enhanced with paddle shifters, optimizing driver control regardless of speed or driving environment. With either transmission choice, the Suzuki Kizashi is engineered to return competitive fuel economy numbers for fuel-conscious consumers.

Braking and Handling
In order to successfully enter a field already saturated with countless nondescript transportation appliances, Suzuki breaks away from traditional values normally associated with the mainstream, standing firm on Suzuki's belief in delivering a dynamic and exhilarating driving experience. That driving experience was validated on Germany's Autobahn, Switzerland's Alpine twisties, cobblestone roads of rural England and the legendary Nürburgring.

Design
Suzuki Kizashi's thoughtfully crafted exterior design is best described as the seamless melding of European style and Japanese craftsmanship. Tailored for the driving enthusiast, Suzuki Kizashi's bold and aggressive stance is complemented by available 18-inch alloy wheels; contemporary styling — with its lean proportion and minimal front overhang — injects the sophistication appropriate to a performance-oriented sport sedan. As with the Suzuki Kizashi Concept series, the front end of the production Suzuki Kizashi expresses both strength and style, while the vehicle's impeccably engineered body reflects Suzuki Kizashi's underlying strength and distinctive combination of capability and refinement.

At Suzuki Kizashi's rear, the architecture accentuates the 'sport' aspect of Suzuki's sport sedan. The visual dynamic is enhanced with the addition of an integrated dual sport exhaust, communicating — both visually and aurally — the Suzuki Kizashi's performance-imbued spirit.

Interior
Suzuki has taken advantage of its expertise in the compact car segment to efficiently execute larger — yet still tidy — proportions that afford comfort and practicality without the wasted space. Along with cabin proportions that reward Suzuki Kizashi drivers and passengers with comfort and roominess, Suzuki pursues a contemporary, upscale interior feel — such as standard sport seats — in line with the vehicle's on-road performance characteristics. Driving enthusiasts will appreciate Suzuki Kizashi's sporty and elegant instrument panel, while consumers seeking a luxury sedan will be pleased with the vehicle's available leather seating, featuring high-density foam and premium quality materials rivaling upscale competitors.

Traction and Safety
The all-new Suzuki Kizashi includes a class-leading list of standard safety equipment, including class-exclusive standard eight airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, projector beam headlamps and a tire pressure monitoring system.

Suzuki Kizashi is offered with Suzuki's next generation i-AWD system, a rare option in its class, as this safety and performance enhancing feature is more typically found among luxury sport sedan offerings. Engineered to provide outstanding traction in inclement weather, the sophisticated all-wheel-drive system also delivers enhanced cornering capabilities. Activated when the driver selects the "AWD" switch on the instrument panel, power to the rear wheels starts immediately upon acceleration. Torque split remains dependent on several factors, including wheel slippage and throttle input.

Suzuki Grand Vitara, 2009

Suzuki Grand Vitara, 2009

The vehicle's surprising off-road performance is matched by an equally impressive interior, making the Grand Vitara the perfect choice for adventure-minded drivers seeking to confidently explore the outside world in comfort and style. The ultimate discovery vehicle, the Suzuki Grand Vitara helps customers engage directly with their environment and their experiences.

For 2009, the rugged and award-winning Suzuki Grand Vitara, a true SUV in a segment of "soft-roaders," offers "brute-ute" owners the opportunity to resize for better fuel economy without settling for a "cute-ute" lacking full SUV capability. A standard, all-new four-cylinder engine provides drivers with better mileage, and a new, more powerful V6 delivers fuel economy better than the V6 it replaces.

Performance and Functionality
The new Suzuki-developed 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine produces 166 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of peak torque, delivering EPA fuel economy estimates of up to 19 mpg/city and 26 mpg/highway. Available for Suzuki Grand Vitara XSport and Luxury models is a new 3.2-liter V6 engine with 230 horsepower and 213 lb.-ft. of torque, replacing the 2.7-liter V6 engine in 2008 Grand Vitara that produced 185 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. Despite an increase of 45 horsepower, the new V6 betters the old motor in fuel economy ratings. The new engine is also 20 percent cleaner than the 2008 model as measured by the State of California's smog index rating. The new V6 also features variable valve timing for both the intake and exhaust camshafts, and both Suzuki Grand Vitara engines use a zero-maintenance timing chain in place of a belt.

The Grand Vitara's new four-cylinder engine can be teamed to a standard five-speed manual transmission or a new four-speed automatic transmission, while the V6 is matched to a standard five-speed automatic transmission. To help fulfill their sense of adventure, customers can choose among RWD models, Single-Mode four-wheel drive or Four-Mode full-time four-wheel drive, a traction system unlike anything else offered in the segment. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is standard for all Suzuki Grand Vitara models, along with a new rollover sensor for the standard side curtain airbags. Enhancing performance on any road is a strengthened structure for 2009, plus rear disc brakes that replace the previous drums.

Suzuki Four-Mode four-wheel drive offers the best of both worlds: further aided by a completely retuned suspension, it is exceptionally capable off-road but is civilized on the asphalt. On pavement, drivers can leave the dash-mounted transfer case switch in 4H and the electronically controlled on-demand four-wheel-drive system will apply traction to the front wheels only as needed, optimizing economy. When traveling off-road, or for low-speed power and traction, drivers can turn the switch to high-range 4H Lock or low-range 4L Lock to engage the center differential lock. The V6 models with Four-Mode full-time four-wheel drive also feature Hill Descent Control and Hill Hold Control, which can enhance driving safety on steep slopes.

Built Like a Brute
The Suzuki Grand Vitara continues Suzuki's 40-year heritage of building compact but rugged SUV-type vehicles, including a model named "Brute." The current Grand Vitara has proven its durability in some of the toughest global markets. Key to the Grand Vitara's go-anywhere capability is its unibody construction with integrated ladder frame, rear-drive-based driveline and four-wheel independent suspension. Typically, only luxury SUVs offer this premium architecture. This type of construction yields the strength and capability sought in large SUVs, while providing the on-road agility and ride quality expected in a modern compact SUV.

Safety
Beyond offering a strong-yet-weight-optimized structure, the unibody with built-in ladder frame contributes to collision protection in the Suzuki Grand Vitara. The reinforced cabin has the added safety of head-impact protection pad and front and rear side-impact door beams.

Active safety (the ability to help avoid an accident) technology in every Suzuki Grand Vitara model includes anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, tire pressure monitoring system and ESP with traction control. ESP helps ensure vehicle stability when cornering, under acceleration, during emergency maneuvers and when driving on slippery road surfaces. Taking input from a variety of sensors, ESP has the ability to apply individual brakes and reduce engine torque to help the driver maintain the desired line of travel.

Standard passive safety features in every Suzuki Grand Vitara model include driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact airbag supplemental restraint systems (SRS), advanced dual-stage front airbag SRS, advanced weight-sensing front passenger airbag SRS and front and rear side-curtain airbags networked with a rollover sensor. The three-point driver and front passenger seat belts feature pretensioners and shoulder height adjustment. Each rear seating position is equipped with a three-point seatbelt and a headrest. Also provided is a rear child-seat LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children).

The Grand Vitara's safety engineering also reflects Suzuki's attention to pedestrian impacts demanded in many global markets. The front end and the bumper integrate energy-absorbing materials to help reduce the possibility of serious leg injuries. The hood is designed to absorb some of the impact and help protect against serious head injuries. These factors helped the 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest rating of good in its most recent frontal crash protection test. In combination, these active and passive safety features make Suzuki Grand Vitara one of the best-equipped compact SUVs with respect to safety.

The Look and Function of a Suzuki
To simplify and improve the driver experience, Suzuki offers easy-to-use features that add useful, real-world functionality to each vehicle. The Suzuki Grand Vitara shows its Suzuki sensibilities in the simple, uncluttered design. Form follows function, with styling that does not compromise visibility, as it does in many crossover-type SUVs. Handsome good looks are part of the mix, too, along with SUV necessities, including short overhangs and roof rails. Exterior mirrors, door handles and bumpers are all color keyed.

The compact exterior footprint contains a roomy, comfortable and versatile cabin to take people and cargo on daily trips or extraordinary voyages. The Suzuki Grand Vitara offers comfortable seating for five, including reclining rear seats, and 24.4 cu.-ft. of storage space with the rear seats up. Cargo space expands to 68.9 cu.-ft. with the 60/40 split-folding seatbacks folded. High-quality materials and attention to fit and finish should help make a driver accustomed to a large luxury SUV feel at home. Controls are easy to access and use, which anyone used to driving a large luxury SUV might find refreshing.

Four Trim Lines, Two Engines, Three Drivelines
The Premium model (four-cylinder only) adds an available four-speed automatic transmission, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with illuminated audio controls, cruise control, privacy glass, full-size spare tire cover, cargo cover, and, when equipped with the optional Single-Mode four-wheel drive, heated exterior mirrors.

Suzuki Alto, 2009

Suzuki Alto, 2009

The new Suzuki Alto combines eye-catching style and easy urban mobility with great performance in terms of fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions, thereby meeting the lifestyle needs of today's motorists and the pressing global need for environmental compatibility. Plus, it is one of the most fun-to-drive city cars available — a great new example of Suzuki's "Way of Life!" philosophy.

As the second model in the second phase of Suzuki's world strategy (a phase that's focused on user-friendliness and delivering expanded possibilities for family members), the new Suzuki Alto offers good levels of comfort and convenience within a modest overall length.

The new Suzuki Alto reflects the unparalleled knowledge of small-cars that has made Suzuki so successful with minivehicles in Japan and compact cars like the Swift all over the world. Suzuki Alto is a definitive response to the need for enjoyable, eco-friendly motoring. Suzuki aims to achieve annual sales of 60,000 units in Europe following a sales launch in spring 2009.

The new Alto is aimed mainly at urban people who want a small car that offers style and enjoyment together with great environmental credentials, and it reflects the ideals of the second phase of Suzuki's world strategy. At the heart of the concept for the new Suzuki Alto is Suzuki's belief that people should be able to enjoy economical, eco-friendly motoring without sacrificing style, comfort, practicality, or performance. Compact dimensions (the new Suzuki Alto is the smallest of Suzuki's world strategic models) play a large part in realising outstanding environmental credentials by keeping weight to a minimum, but without detracting from user-friendliness.

Design, Comfort and Practicality
The new Suzuki Alto has a sporty, solid look that exudes urban energy despite the body's compact dimensions. The design is elegant and beautiful thanks to aerodynamically efficient contours that combine tautness with evocative curviness. It is ideally matched to European tastes and with a drag coefficient of just 0.30 promotes fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions.

The cabin layout apportions most of the space to the front seats but still provides ample space for four adults. Handy storage spaces for small items are located all around the cabin. Notwithstanding the new Alto's compact exterior dimensions, there's a usable amount of luggage space behind the rear seats, and folding down the rear seatback expands the space into a roomy luggage area suited to daily use.

Performance and Environmental Compatibility
The new Suzuki Alto is powered by a three cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine successfully launched as an engine of the Suzuki Splash. This unit is light and compact with low friction characteristics. Maximum power output is 68PS (50kW) with maximum torque of 90Nm. Fuel consumption is low at 62.7 mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions are just 103g/km. Standard transmission is a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission (uncommon among one-litre cars) with gate-type shifter is available as an option.

Suspension
The front suspension is of MacPherson strut type and the large, high-rigidity suspension frame is complemented by further strengthening in the strut mounting areas for superior handling. The rear suspension has Suzuki's proprietary 3-link rigid axle design, and incorporates numerous refinements for the new car. The coil springs and dampers were tuned for optimum handling stability through extensive testing on roads in Europe.

Suzuki targeted handling that makes driving enjoyable on urban roads, so drivers enjoy linear response, gentle roll movements, light steering feel, and good absorption of shock and vibration. These benefits reflect the experience Suzuki has gained in motorsport around the world.

The new Suzuki Alto has a minimum turning radius of just 4.5m making it easy to manoeuvre and park in tight spaces.

Safety
To help the driver avoid hazards on the road, the new Suzuki Alto is available with Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which modulates the engine performance and applies the brakes during cornering and under aceleration.

In the unfortunate event of an accident, the new Suzuki Alto's body reflects Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) concept in the form of crushable structures that absorb impact energy, frame members that disperse impact energy away from occupants and a strong cabin structure. Use of high-tensile steel for major body parts means the resulting high level of occupant safety does not add excessive weight to the body.

And gives an interesting glimpse of new ideas and design approaches that will shape Suzuki models in years to come. As part of the global strategy of Suzuki, the Swift will be manufactured in Hungary, Japan, China and India.

Radical innovation: The story behind the new Suzuki Swift

Suzuki recently started a new program of radical innovation: a mission which aims to reaffirm and strengthen our position as an innovator Suzuki'fs compact-car; mission destined to produce the vehicle to realize the unique DNA of a company that not only the world leader in compact car but also the dominant force in the world of motorcycles.

automotive public'fs first glance the new way forward Suzuki'fs come at the Paris Motor Show 2002, in which Suzuki launched the Concept-S, a, fresh-inspired rally car concept that reflects the influence of two-and four-wheel Suzuki'fs and activities combines the benefits of racing Suzuki'fs descent with advanced technology features.

Next comes the new Suzuki'fs program is S2-concept, an open sports car that Suzuki developed the best in new-model concept into shape with a more relaxed personality. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003, Concept-S2 is a dimension similar to the production of new generation vehicles in the direction that Suzuki continues to work - a vehicle that will be known as the new Suzuki Swift.

Plans for the new Swift is formed around the same mindset entirely new: Whereas Japanese car development often focuses first on the needs of Japanese motorists, the designers and engineers assigned to the new Suzuki Swift focus first and foremost in Europe, the new Swift will be a Japanese car developed in Europe for today'fs global market.

designers first step is to set up base in Europe, where they assess the return Suzuki'fs concept car design and joined hands with European designers, who provide valuable insight European mindset. They lived in Europe for six months, continue to refine the design of the new Swift when they got inspiration from the landscape and the people of Europe. The result is an innovative design, sporty, and elegant with a genuine international appeal.
New Swift'fs Handling, too, reflects a clear European focus. The engineers developed a completely new chassis and perfected through the test track and road-testing programs throughout Europe. At each step, they incorporated feedback from European car enthusiasts. The result is handling that meet the most exacting European motorists.

A head-turning fusion of the dynamics and stability

Suzuki'fs exciting new direction in car design that directly visible in the external styling of the new Swift. Unlike many vehicles styling monoform adopted in the supermini category, the new Swift has a 1.5-box style that communicates a clear sense of dynamism and substantiality; has consistently earned praise among European motorists who works with design programs.

Front face distinctive headlamps combine sporty clear and wide airdam that are not only pressing the front-end lift but also looks dynamic and stylish. And attitudes that convey a strong sense of stability created by the large-diameter wheels positioned near the extreme corners of the body and by a bold contoured shoulder lines that run from front to rear lamp body.

A greenhouse gives the upper half of the cover body Swift'fs new look, bold sporty cabin and helped inspire the emergence of robustness. Cover design of the greenhouse is equipped with a black finish on B-and A-pillar for the display, even more integrated smarter.
On the new Swift, it is clear that the shoulder line is equipped with lights bold wheel arches and side sills that further emphasize the strength and stability car'fs. Shoulder line flows into the rear combination lamps that curve forward to meet them at the rear wheels, creating a unique look solid, sporty, and well integrated.

And in the back of a very, very substantial-looking, expressive style truck with a bumper meet, big wide rear that forms a strong visual base for the bottom of the body. Efficient, enjoyable performance for every driving situation

For efficient, enjoyable performance that meets every need driver'fs, the new Swift comes with three engine options in a comprehensive enhanced (1.3-liter gasoline engine M13A, M15A petrol engine 1.5-liter and 1.3 liter diesel engine DDiS) and with transmission choices (five-speed manual, manual five-speed automatic transmission and four-speed automatic).

Each machine is set with an emphasis on performance at low speed and mid-range (important in urban driving situations and on winding country road) and incorporating various advanced technologies.

key technology of the gasoline engine includes variable valve timing (used with 1.5-liter gasoline engine), which helps to maximize torque and power throughout the range of rotation. 1.3-liter diesel engine has a common-rail injection system of fuel for superior performance, emissions control and fuel efficiency. This breathing through intercooled turbocharger, which helped to create the curve, a strong flat torque with smooth response even at low engine speeds.
Transmission Suzuki'fs also reflect a focus on driving pleasure. The main features are as follows:
Five-speed manual transmission (used with gasoline engines and DDiS) has a short-stroke design was updated with comprehensively enhanced shift linkages that give the company, quick shift feel.

And Manual five-speed automatic transmission (use with 1.3-liter gasoline engine) offers both automatic and manual benefits shift for easy shifting, fuel-efficient driving. Its automatic mode the driver has two settings that can be selected: Economy mode, which emphasizes fuel economy, and the normal mode, which emphasizes drivability. Automatic four-speed transmission (used with 1.5-liter gasoline engine) has a gated shift lever that allows the driver to shift gear to enjoy the added excitement. This feature is common among sports saloons and coupes but rarely seen in the supermini category.

Understood the new system to increase the next generation and handling

With the new Swift, chassis engineers Suzuki'fs targeted dynamic driving experience together with a trip that feels sophisticated and comfortable. They achieve this balance is difficult to integrate the body with a new platform developed specifically for chassis system combines understood.

The new platform was developed to provide new Swift with the tread width (front: 1470mm, rear: 1480mm), large overall width (1690 mm), and a long wheelbase (2380 mm). These dimensions not only benefit interior spaciousness, but also helps to activate the superior on-road stability and comfort.

Front suspension has a new design where the lower arm, steering gearbox, engine mounting and attached to the rear suspension subframe. This design provides increased stiffness significantly higher, which translates into lower road noise and feel stronger than stability.

That new Swift breaks new ground with further equipped with a torsion-beam rear suspension, which gives a superior combination of handling stability and ride comfort. One specific benefit of the new arrangements unsprung weight low, allowing the camber angle and toe-in which will be effectively controlled for accurate and predictable handling. Another plus is the space-efficient layout that allows, low-floor flat luggage-area.

To further enhance the driving experience, the system-assisted power steering has a newly developed steering gearbox that gives a more direct feel. And to further controllability, improved braking system has a design in which increased caliper stiffness and other enhancements sure to stop providing power.

Class-leading protection from collision and theft

Peace of mind for users has always been a Suzuki main priority, so that the new Swift combines the latest technology for safety and security. Develop a body from scratch allows engineering teams to achieve extraordinary structure crashworthy; one in which high-tensile steel and tailored blank is used extensively to ensure a light and strength. It also allows the team to adopt a structure (particularly in the caps, fenders, wipers, and front bumper) that helps protect pedestrians in case of contact.

In the cabin, the user is more shielded from impact forces by a collapsible steering column, brake foot-injury-mitigation and clutch pedals, front seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters, energy-absorbing trim, front airbags, and side and curtain airbags are available.

To help ensure that no-advanced passive safety technology ever needed, the new Swift combining various active safety technologies include four-wheel anti-lock braking systems, brake-force distribution system electronics, and brake-assist function, which together help the driver avoid hazards .

And to give users even greater peace of mind, protection from theft model is realized by the system started without a key (without key unlocking this permission, engine startup, and locking), immobilizer, and locked the door last Suzuki'fs tamper-resistant.

Cleverly arranged space for daily convenience

Despite the new Swift has a dimension that makes it easy to manage on the road, use an intelligent interior space realizes exceptional people-and luggage-carrying flexibility.
With all seats in use, luggage area has a low capacity 213L (VDA). Luggage area is tall enough to allow a large suitcase to be loaded vertically. Plus, luggage-area floor is smooth and flat thanks to the torsion-beam rear suspension is a new adoption.
In a higher value, the rear seats have a 40/60-split design and tumble-folding function so it can be configured to create a surface, extended flat trunk on each side. a lower value has a rear bench-type seats with a single-folding seatback can also be used to create more trunk space. The tailgate can be opened electrically by pressing a button, making loading easier when user'fs hands full with suitcases.
